It has been quite some time since I've written on this blog, but I'm going to make a comeback. As I've said before, I have plenty of opinions and will gladly share them with whomever cares to read them. Take a quick look at what's already been posted as sort of a primer for what's to come. Seriously, there isn't that many posts so read them all.

As for tonight, I will leave you with this: It's no fun to be outside packing a pod to help someone move in triple digit heat. If you ever have the opportunity, I wouldn't take it. You really don't want to know what I'm talking about.

House is the way to go

I think it's safe to say that my favorite show on TV right now is House. It's probably because I enjoy his character so much. He's crass, argumentative, indifferent, and sometimes downright mean. It's actually quite amusing and overall very entertaining.

There are so many other shows on that are formulaic and not all that exciting. Sometimes I can't even tell the difference between the shows. Three different CSIs, Law and Order SVU, Criminal Minds. They're all too similar.

I don't even want to talk about American Idol and all the other reality shows that have followed suit.

So, if you're looking for something that's actually entertaining and unique, House is the way to go. Other than that, it's probably better to find something else to do with your time.

Why Start a Blog?

There are so many new blogs being started every day that you have to wonder why. They originally started out as a way for people to keep an online journal. Now they're so much more.

Some blogs try to provide good information about a specific niche. Others are just miscellaneous ramblings about anything and everything. It's also becoming a good way for friends to keep up with each other.

There's also a lot of blogs out there that are completely focused on trying to make money. If this is the reason you plan on starting a blog, then you're almost surely going to fail.

You've got to have good content that people will want to read. You can't just throw crappy content up and expect to have hundreds of visitors. People can also tell if you're in it just for the money.

You should enjoy what you're blogging about and also be prepared to keep fresh content on your site. You're site traffic will be terrible if you update your blog sporadically.

Is a blog right for you? Only you will know, but don't expect people to read mindless drivel.

Top 5 Most Annoying List

Some things in life are extremely irritating. I've tried to capture a few of those things here:

1. People not following through on their commitments.

I can't stand it when people say they're going to do something and then don't. It's not much better when people get around this by being practically non-committal to everything. Do everyone a favor and do what you say you're going to do.

2. Aggressive and reckless driving.

No one likes being cut off, but I really hate it. You're not going to get where you're going much faster by being one or two car lengths further ahead. Also what are you trying to prove by tailgating someone. And finally, pay attention to whether you have your high beams on or not. They're extremely annoying.

3. People wearing their sunglasses inside.

I'm envious of how incredibly cool people are when they keep their sunglasses on once they've come inside. Now that I think of it, I mustn't forget how glaringly bright it is inside all the time. Also, it's not any better to take them off and hang them on the back of your collar.

4. People breathing heavily into the telephone receiver.

Not much can be said about this. It's just annoying.

5. Obscenely loud car stereo systems.

People think they're so amazingly awesome because they're driving around in some Cutlass Sierra with an enormous sound system you can hear for blocks. It's especially comical when the the trunk rattles and is actually louder than the music. Such a sound system doesn't make you "cool" at all; it only exposes you for what you are: annoying.

If you've got something to add, feel free. If you don't agree with what I've listed, let yourself be heard.

Honoring a Drunk Driver?

One of the biggest news stories recently here in St. Louis is the baseball player that was killed after running into a tow truck on the highway. Josh Hancock was a relief pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals.

Everyone was so distraught. People were leaving flowers, cards, and other memorabilia outside the stadium to honor the player.

It has since come to light that his blood-alcohol level was twice the legal limit, he had marijuana and a pipe in the car with him, and he was talking on the cell phone. Even after this information came out, they still honored him at one of the next games.

I honestly can't belive it. They're holding memorials and honoring this guy for the great competetor and team mate that he was. They shouldn't be honoring anything about this guy.

This is nothing more than a case of drunk driving and also possibly driving while under the influence of drugs. I'm just glad that he didn't kill anyone else besides himself.

Am I glad that he died? No. But the situation could have been a lot worse. I have no real tolerance for someone who drives drunk, and I definitely don't think that we should be holding grand memorials for this guy.

I'll say it again. There is no excuse for drunk driving.

The Presidential Veto

The President of the United States exercised his veto power today by rejecting a bill from Congress that would put firm dates in place to begin a troop withdrawal.

I haven't read the entire bill, but I don't really agree with it either. President Bush said today that signing such a bill would give the terrorists an exact time line for what we would do.

I don't know about you, but I don't really think that in a time of war it's the best idea to advertise your future plans. If you tell the world when you're going to pull out, the enemy would obviously wait until then to come out in full force.

You may be convinced that we should start pulling out of Iraq, but you have to admit that it's not exactly a well thought out plan to give the enemy your battle plans.

The democratic led Congress is basically trying to use whatever means it can to let people know that they're opposed to the war. I think it's fine that they want to express their opinions, and they're entitled to do so.

You can whine all you want, but don't put it in writing and expect the Commander in Chief to sign off on something that would publicize America's plans.
