I thought you said...

One of my biggest pet peeves has to do with people who don't follow through on their commitments. When someone says they're going to do something, generally speaking I expect them to do it.

Obviously there are exceptions to this, but I'm talking about a general rule.

When you plan certain aspects of your life around what others say, it's incredibly irritating when they don't follow through. It is even more frustrating when because of this, it causes you not to be able to meet your commitments.

Some people have also then become notoriously good at not ever committing to anything. This absolves them from any responsibility and allows them to either do or not do based on a whim.

I would suggest that you don't allow yourself to fall into either of these categories. It will speak volumes for your character that you not only follow through on your commitments but that you are also not afraid of making commitments.

The bottom line: Do what you say you're going to do, be able to say what you're going to do.

Rosie O'Donnell is off The View

All I can say is it's about time. I've never been a big fan of Rosie and her antics. I'm not even sure why she gets the ratings that she does. She's not that funny.

I can appreciate the fact that she's so opinionated, but there's "opinionated", and then there's "obnoxious". She's the latter.

I'm not all that concerned about the future of "The View". After all it's daytime television and most productive people have better things to do.

It's suddenly Hip to cry Social Outrage

Question: When did everyone all of a sudden become so touchy and sensitive? Don Imus calls a couple girls "nappy headed hos", and suddenly the whole country is on a nationwide witch hunt.

Now, do I agree with and condone what Don Imus said? No. Am I going to lie awake at night worrying about those who might be offended? Also no.

CBS has just recently taken two more so called "shock jocks" off the air after they did an on-air prank phone call to a Chinese restaurant in New York. This isn't the first time that I've heard a prank phone call on the radio where they were making fun of someone. I don't believe it'll be the last either. Has anyone heard of the Jerky Boys?

Record producers and their artists are also coming under fire, especially the rap artists. Sure they use the same language that Imus used. Yes, some of it's obscene and degrading. It's been going on for years. There is no mystery that's finally been uncovered after all these years.

It's a classic case of "if I can't do it, then neither can you".

As far as I'm concerned, everyone should grow up. Whatever happened to this children's rhyme:

"Sticks and stones will break my bones, but words will never hurt me".
Suddenly, everyone has developed an extreme social conscience.

I believe it's more important to worry about yourself and make sure that you're treating people right than it is to point a condemning finger every which way.

Also, learn to laugh at yourself a little. Don't take yourself too seriously. Let others' remarks just roll off your back and move on with your day. Find something better to do with yourself than spending all your time being offended.

Quick update

I had planned on having more time to post to this new blog. My goal is to keep it frequently updated. This shouldn't usually be a problem. I'm a pretty opinionated guy.

Currently, however, I'm down at my grandma's house looking after things while my aunt is out of town. I don't mind really at all because it's a good feeling to be able to help someone out.

I'm not going to say much more for now, but I wanted to get something up so you'd know that I hadn't already deserted the site. I'll be back soon with much more commentary.

You versus the Celebrities

Why is America so obsessed with celebrities? Do we have nothing better to do than to follow every move that celebrities make?

There must not be any excitement in the lives of the masses that they seek to live vicariously through their favorite celebrity.

Do you honestly care that Britney Spears shaved her head and is rehab? Does this little nugget of information better your existence somehow? Or how about Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, and Jennifer Aniston. What do you expect to gain by knowing the latest gossip surrounding them? Maybe it provides some form of entertainment, but I'd much prefer to watch one of their movies for entertainment instead of following their every move.

Why don't you try to find something exciting to do with your own life. Have you ever considered that the reason celebrities' lives are interesting is because they're actually out doing things. Instead of marvelling at their successes and following their failures, go out and find your own success. Do you think the celebrities sit at home trying to catch up on all the latest gossip?

So many people want to be like their favorite celebrity. They try and dress like them. They want to talk like them. They try to act like them.

Why do you want to wear clothes with someone else's name on the back?

Are you that unhappy with your life that you wish you were someone else?

Go out and do something with your life. Stop hoping and wishing, and start doing. There's no reason that you can't be just as successful as the next guy have you're own interesting life.

What do you have to say about this?

Matter of Opinion

A lot of conversations/arguments end with the phrase, "that's a matter of opinion". Of course it is. The world would be pretty banal if everything was rooted in fact. I'll give you my thoughts and concerns about whatever I deem important or interesting. There will be times you agree with me, and there will be times you won't. Good times are what's important however.

So come back often and feel free express your opinions as well. I won't let you get away with everything, but I'll definitely respond and push what I have to say.
